Last night, (Thursday 24 August), London's East End was taken over by the dark side, with The Kerrang! Awards 2006 at The Brewery EC1. The good, the great - and the downright legendary - names in rock and metal both new and old gathered at the 550 capacity venue to hear the hugely anticipated winners of the 13 categories, and to help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Kerrang! Magazine. With the recent ABC figures showing that Kerrang! Magazine is now the world's biggest selling weekly music magazine (with 80,186 readers per week) there was certainly much cause for celebration!
From 6pm on the night of the Awards, guests were treated to a stunning display of weird and wonderful sights that formed the theme of this year's Awards - "Twisted Carnival". Brought to the proceedings by infamous burlesque and cabaret company Torture Garden Productions, a carnival sideshow consisted of acts such as 'Vivid Angel Wolf Girl, 'Johnny Flaming Fun', 'Lenny Fire Dwarf' and 'Psycho Cyborgs', in addition to the beautiful Ring Mistresses Tasha and Valeria. Host of the Awards, Kerrang! Radio's Stuart Cable, joined in the bizarre circus by taking his role as Ring Master very, very seriously...
